Financial Analyst Job Location: The Arizona Department of Administration / Budget Office This position may offer the ability to work remotely, within Arizona, based upon the department's business needs and continual meeting of expected performance measures Main Office Location: 100 N 15th Avenue, Ste 302, Phoenix, AZ Posting Details: Salary: $78,000 - $88,000 Grade: 24 Open Until Filled Job Summary: The Arizona Department of Administration's Director's Office, Budget Office, is currently seeking a Financial Analyst who will be instrumental in managing the financial operations of an assigned division.
In this role, the successful candidate will be responsible for the development and implementation of financial policies and procedures specifically designed for the division.
They will engage in critical collaboration with division executives to formulate and refine the annual budget, ensuring both its alignment with strategic objectives and adherence to fiscal discipline.
The role extends beyond routine budget management, encompassing the responsibility for compiling comprehensive monthly cash flow reports and maintaining the financial management tools.
This position requires a proactive approach to financial stewardship, combining a strong foundation in financial principles with a strategic mindset.
The Financial Analyst will play a crucial role in the Budget Office, contributing significantly to the overall efficiency and effectiveness of financial management within the ADOA, thereby supporting the administration's commitment to prudent and responsible governance.

Job Duties: Develop the annual budget.
Work with executive staff to determine priorities and resources necessary to operate.
Meet monthly with executive staff individually to review budget.
Ensure they understand their respective budgets and work within their budget.
Compile monthly cash flow reports and submit by the 15th of the month.
Provide budget reports to assigned division executive staff as needed.
Work with ADOA budget director and OSPB analyst to ensure all understand division budget issues and work on getting them approved.
Review and monitor expenditures to ensure they are coded accurately.
Process corrections when necessary.
Review and approve requisitions and purchase orders to ensure they are coded accurately and budget is not exceeded.
Annually enter budgets into accounting system.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs): Knowledge of: Principles, concepts and current practices of State government, government management and administrative processes.
Laws (Arizona Revised Statutes, Federal) rules and regulations, policies and procedures which apply to procurement rules, regulations and procedures.
Statewide accounting system (AFIS).
State of Arizona budget process.
Cash flow compilation.
Utilization of spreadsheets/sheets.
Skills in: Interpersonal skills - verbally communicate clearly and effectively in one-on-one and group settings with officials, managers, and representatives of ADOA and various agencies, boards and commissions as well as vendors and the general public as needed.
The skill to lead discussions regarding agency requirements, project activities and contract compliance.
Communication (Oral, written and graphic) Skills - write and speak clearly and concisely in reports, etc.
, interview appropriate resources and acquire data in support of objectives and deliver high-level written and verbal presentations.
Analytical skills - appropriately develop tools, formulate and identify effective solutions to problems.
Conduct research and extract, compile, analyze and present information and benchmarking.
Ability to: Effectively work with people of varying backgrounds and education levels.
Manage time to ensure work is completed timely.
Selective Preference(s): Preference for degree in finance or accounting.
Extensive experience in State agency annual budget development, forecasting and allocation for multiple funding sources.
Experience in monitoring, reviewing and analyzing requisitions, purchase orders and expenditures.
