DISASTER RECOVERY SPECIALIST_HUMAN SERVICES Job Location: Work Location: Papago Park Military Reservation (PPMR), Phoenix, AZ Posting Details: Salary: $17.

Job Summary: The Disaster Recovery Specialist position serves in a part time, on-call, as-needed position.
Disaster Recovery Specialist is responsible for assisting communities, individuals, and businesses recovering from disaster damages.
The Disaster Recovery Specialist works under the direction of the Human Services Coordinator in the Recovery Section of the Division of Emergency Management.
The activities of the Individual Assistance program are the primary responsibility for assisting communities, individuals, and businesses recovering from disaster damages.
This position is critical to allow DEMA adequate staffing surge capacity.
Personally, prepares for any time (24/7) response and no-notice recall to the State or Alternate Emergency Operations Center (SEOC) and/or Joint Field Office (JFO) during disaster or exercise activations.
Trains for specific SEOC positions and performs duties as assigned through internal agency policy.
Job Duties: Responsibilities include: • Provides administrative functions in the Human Services mission of assisting jurisdictions in their recovery from a man-made or natural disaster (completes Damage Assessments (PDA) with FEMA & SBA).
Assists with the standing up of Individual Assistance Service Centers (IASC).
Participates in and promotes Community Long Term Recovery activities (CLTR).
Supports the Voluntary Agency and Private Sector Liaison (VAL/PSL) working with VOADs, NGOs, and FBOs.
• Monitors and tracks key documentation and correspondence to and from survivor registrants.
Collects and compiles field data.
Communicates with local community members, social service providers, local emergency managers, and volunteer organizations as well as those directly impacted by the event.
Assist in preparing reports.
Maintains accurate documentation and financial records.
Prepares fiscal and performance reports.
• Prepares material for presentations and outreach.
Ensures the whole community, including those with disabilities and others with access and functional needs, is provided with all assistance services.
Responsible for maintaining IA event files.
May be asked to represent the agency at meetings with other governmental jurisdictions and before various community groups.
• Performs key administrative functions by monitoring and evaluating procedures to assure program conformance and integrity.
Prepares a variety of technical and administrative reports.
Provides required file governance procedures.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs): Knowledge of: • General knowledge/understanding of laws, rules, and regulations related to disaster recovery.
• Individual Assistance and Housing programs.
• Appropriate methods of communication and active listening.
Skilled in: • Talking to others to convey information effectively.
• Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.
• Recognizing, analyze, and solve a variety of problems.
• Utilizing a personal computer and various Microsoft programs, Google Suite, Adobe.
• Remaining professional when dealing with internal/external customers.
Ability to: • Talking to others to convey information effectively.
• Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.
• Recognizing, analyze, and solve a variety of problems.
• Utilizing a personal computer and various Microsoft programs, Google Suite, Adobe.
• Remaining professional when dealing with internal/external customers.
Selective Preference(s): Desired qualifications include any combination of experience, education and training that meets the knowledge, skills, and abilities described.
Preferred candidate will possess 3-5 years of experience/knowledge in Disaster Relief/Emergency Management; and/or 3-5 years in a customer service role/environment.
Pre-Employment Requirements: • Requires possession of and ability to retain a current, valid state issued driver's license.
Employees who drive on state business are subject to driver's license record checks, must maintain acceptable driving records and must complete the required driver training (See Arizona Administrative Code R2-10-207.
