ABOUT THIS POSITION
The Public Works Department is looking for a hardworking, driven, and highly motivated Administrative Assistant II (AAII) who can work effectively in group environments and independently to achieve desired results.
The Public Works Department Administrative Services Division provides department wide support in the areas of procurement, fiscal, information technology, communications, and environmental.
The AAII provides high-level administrative support to the Assistant and Deputy Public Works Directors as well as the overall administration of the division.
Duties may include: Managing operating and/or capital budgets.
Conducting independent research studies.
Assisting in the development of operational policies and procedures.
Writing policies, reports and contracts.
Conducting staff meetings, training, and group presentations with City staff and the public.
Coordinating and problem solving across departmental lines.
Assisting in implementing improvements.
Evaluating and making recommendations on administrative projects and problems.
Performing other duties as assigned.
In addition, the AAII serves as the Department Travel and Training Liaison and supervises the front desk Support Services Aide.
This position will assist with department-wide grant research, application, submittal, tracking, and post award management as needed.
Sound business written and oral communication skills are needed.
Work is performed under general supervision where considerable independence is allowed.
Schedule and Location: The position works Monday through Friday standard business hours and is located at Phoenix City Hall.
Teleworking may be available up to one day per week upon approval after six months in the position.
IDEAL CANDIDATE Ability to communicate with elected, executive, and administrative level employees.
Knowledge of the City of Phoenix or municipal government structure and processes.
Advanced computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
).
SALARY Pay Range: $63,044.
80 to $107,806.
40 annually Hiring Range: $63,044.
80 to $102,668.
80 annually Pay Range Explanation: Pay range is the entire compensation range for the position classification.
Hiring range is an estimate of where you can receive an offer.
The actual salary offer will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, training, and internal equity.

Bachelor's degree in public or business administration, or a related field.
