*Position Summary:* Provides direct patient care and clinical support to patients receiving optometric services under the direction and supervision of a licensed Optometrist.
Ensures consistent department operations by maintaining patient flow, preparing and stocking exam rooms, and calibrating equipment.
Performs administrative duties, such as patient scheduling, maintaining referral logs, and answering the phone, as needed.
*Critical Tasks:*
* Performs pre-testing, preliminary examination testing, and special testing while adhering to all established standards and regulations.
* Documents patient information and testing data accurately and in a timely fashion.
* Demonstrates integrity and compassion in all interactions with patients and their family members to support Culturally Competent Care and Kindness Campaign.
* Maintains clinical competencies and proficiencies as required by standards of practice, regulatory guidelines, and hospital policies.
* Promotes positive values, such as teamwork, professionalism, respect, innovation, and excellence, in all workplace interactions.
* Provides optical advice to patients and completes spectacle lens orders according to clinic guidelines.
* Performs various administrative functions as needed.
* Oversees cleaning, stocking, and organization of dispensary.
* Prepares and shuts down special testing equipment and ensures exam room and office cleanliness.
* Oversees exam room preparation by performing duties such as organizing instruments, sanitizing equipment, and calibrating equipment.
* Performs other job related activities as requested.
*Required Qualifications:*
* High school diploma or GED required; Associates Degree in health science or a closely related field of study preferred.
* 1 year of related experience preferred.
* Must be Certified Para Optometric Technician (CPOT) or equivalent.
* Current and continuing BLS training and certifications required.
* Demonstrates ability to relate to diverse cultures and specifically the Gila River Community and/or other Native American cultures and community health services.
