BCBA Job Description
The BCBA is responsible for coordinating all clinical aspects of their client's ABA
therapy.
The BCBA's responsibilities include evaluation of clients through direct
observation, standardized assessments and creation of the ABA treatment plan to be
submitted to client's insurance.
Upon authorization of ABA therapy services, BCBA will
supervise behavior technicians in implementing the treatment plan, update the
treatment plan according to client's progress and provide parent training according to
the number of hours approved.
BCBA will also be responsible to collaborate with related
service providers and teachers as needed.
Below is a detailed list of tasks associated with a BCBA's role:
Evaluation Process:
Review Intake Forms.
Contact client’s to set up a time for direct observation and formal assessment.
Perform direct observation including observation of client in a natural setting and
probing specific skills.
Conduct a formal assessment.
(via direct observation or parent interview)
Collaborate with the scheduling team regarding ABA therapy schedule.
Creation of the Learning Tree and Treatment Plan:
Use a 3 tier model to create client’s learning tree including long term goals
(related to ASD diagnosis), relevant short term goals and specific targets.
Include note details, instructional notes and baseline data for each target.
Complete treatment plan by using the note template corresponding to the client's
insurance.
Respond to feedback and corrections from the quality assurance team before
submitting treatment plan to the client's insurance.
Before starting ABA therapy:
Inform parents that a treatment plan was submitted and give an estimated start
date for therapy.
Create a session in central reach including relevant targets for technicians to
collect data.
Create a session structure for technicians to follow and prepare necessary
materials.
Speak with the technician to give guidance regarding pairing with client, goals
and session structure.
Schedule a date (preferably first session) to model program implementation and
session structure.
Ongoing Supervision:
BCBA is expected to complete an 8 hour supervision course within the first 60
days of hire.
BCBA will supervise 10% of total therapy hours for each client.
During each supervision session, BCBA will model and observe implementation
of the treatment plan and provide any necessary feedback.
Ongoing Treatment Planning:
Review data in the learning tree regularly to evaluate clients progress, add phase
changes, and clarify procedures for technicians.
Add and remove target goals as necessary.
Maintain the client’s session on
central reach accordingly.
Keep the technician informed of any changes related to goals or session
structure.
Parent Training:
During initial evaluation, conduct a parent interview.
Schedule weekly or bimonthly meetings with parent(s) for parent training.
Determine skills that will be addressed during parent training sessions.
Keep parents informed of progress, significant changes to the treatment plan etc.
Collaborate with teachers and related service providers as needed.
Re-authorization:
Complete a concurrent treatment plan, corresponding to client’s insurance every
six months to obtain continued authorization of services.
Respond to feedback and corrections from the quality assurance team before
submitting treatment plan to the client's insurance.
Billing and Reporting Responsibilities:
Document all time worked in central reach daily.
Bill with appropriate codes relevant to task performed (97151, 97153, 97155,
97156 etc)
Complete an incident report related to any safety concerns that occurred within
the session.
Complete a discharge report at the time that client terminates services with the
agency.
Contribute information regarding staff performance to the administrative team
upon request.
Adhere to all HIPPA requirements related to client confidentiality.

Pay: $100,000.
