Job Summary:
The Psych Medical Assistant will help the provider in the diagnostic testing, examination, education, and treatment of patients and perform clerical duties as needed.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Works in an team model to improve the patient's experience, create better communication and access to care, and support processes that will improve patient satisfaction.
Prepares patients for provider visit, takes vitals, records patients' health history and other intake requirements.
Sets-up EKG machines, administers injections and medications, and performs routine specimen collection and tests.
Prepares equipment and examination rooms and cleans instruments.
Assists provider as needed with patient care.
Manages inventory of medical supplies and equips exam rooms with appropriate supplies.
Receives and directs phone calls, schedules appointments, checks-in patients, obtains necessary patient information to file and updates patient records, and ensures all forms and consents are completed by patients.
Checks-out patients, assists with referral and prescription processing, and arranges laboratory services.
May perform MA duties for other outpatient departments as needed.
Organizes and communicates with insurance companies for authorizations for therapies, testing and specialist referrals.
Attends, participates, and/or assists in meetings, trainings, community outreach activities, continuing education opportunities, and other activities as required.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
NOAH requires all new hires to have received the first dose of a COVID-19 vaccine before their start date and be scheduled for their second dose.
New hires who choose to receive the Johnson & Johnson vaccine only need one dose to fulfill this requirement.

Required Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:
Knowledge of medical/psychiatry practices and front and back-office procedures.
Knowledge of patient care and examination procedures.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to interact with individuals of various social, cultural, and educational backgrounds.

Ability to exercise confidentiality, discretion, and good judgment.
Ability to speak English and Spanish preferred.
Education and Experience:
Required:
High School Diploma or GED.
Certified or Registered Medical Assistant OR completion of a Medical Assistant program that meets the BOMEX training guidelines OR completion of a United States Armed Forces medical services training program OR meet necessary guidelines as described in Arizona Board of Medical Examiners Administrative Code, Title 4, Chapter 16, Article 4, Section R4-16-401, paragraphs A and B prior to start date OR have 1 year of Medical Assistant Experience.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Preferred:
6+ months of experience in a medical office or hospital setting.
