The School of Mathematical and Natural Sciences in the New College of Interdisciplinary Arts and Sciences at Arizona State University invites applications for a full-time, benefits-eligible Assistant/Associate Teaching Professor position in Biochemistry and closely related fields such as molecular biology, genetics, and cellular biology.
This position will begin in August 2024.
Successful candidates are expected to deliver quality undergraduate instruction in Biochemistry and associated courses and to contribute service to the school, college, university, and the profession.

Essential Functions of the Position: The person filling this position is expected to deliver quality instruction in the general field of biochemistry including genetics, cellular biology, and molecular biology.
Additionally, the candidate will be expected to: Deliver high-quality interdisciplinary and inclusive instruction on-ground and online in the general field of biochemistry including genetics, cellular biology, and molecular biology.
Develop, maintain, and update course materials as appropriate to the field and modality to support the recently launched online Pharmacology and Toxicology BS degree.
Foster collegiality in the school; we value a highly collaborative community and culture that prioritizes mutual respect, support, and collective success.
Contribute service to the unit, college, university, and profession as requested.
Teach courses in relevant areas.
To be considered for an Associate Teaching Professor position, one must have at least five years of relevant teaching experience and have successfully gone through the promotion process at another institution.
Qualifications Required Qualifications: Doctorate or terminal degree in Biochemistry, Genetics, Cellular Biology, or Molecular Biology or related field at the time of the hire.
Desired Qualifications: One or more years of teaching excellence in relevant areas.
Experience in university instruction and course development utilizing course management systems such as Canvas or Blackboard.
Ability to teach broadly across core undergraduate courses that support the Pharmacology/Toxicology, Biology, and Environmental Sciences programs such as genetics, cellular biology, biochemistry, and introductory pharmacology/toxicology classes.
Expertise that contributes to the general field of Biochemistry and compliments the knowledge of the current faculty.
Evidence of previous teaching service responsibilities, supervising supplemental kinds of student learning, and/or administrative duties related to teaching.
Ability to teach in a variety of class formats such as large, first-year lectures; upper-division, specialty courses; and laboratory classes.
Experience working successfully with a diverse student population including first-generation college students.
Ongoing commitment to professional development in the field.
