A Police Lieutenant is a key leader with the organization, responsible for overseeing and managing a division of police staff.
The purpose of this position is to provide mid-level leadership, while also providing program and project management.
A Police Lieutenant is responsible for all Police-related activities in a specific section of the Department/City, including the response to calls to provide assistance and direction to officers and sergeants.
Lieutenants also have important administrative duties within their division, as assigned by the Police Commander, including promotion of short-term and long-term Department goals and initiatives.

The ideal candidate for this position will have:
Demonstrated strong leadership and management skills.
Demonstrated proficiency and knowledge in law enforcement operations.
Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
A proven track record of sound decision-making and problem-solving capabilities.
The ability to remain calm and effective in high-pressure situations.
Ability to incorporate and exemplify Peoria’s Core Values of being Professional, Ethical, Open, Responsive, Innovative and Accountable.
