As a Volunteer Coordinator, you will onboard new volunteers in your assigned areas, be the liaison between volunteers and assigned departments, provide ongoing support for volunteers and assigned departments and help coach volunteers when needed.
Excellent customer service experience, administrative, problem-solving and innovative thinking skills are key to this role.
Essential Functions Work with assigned departments to identify and fulfill their volunteer needs/shifts.
Onboard new volunteers, schedule trainings, and prepare training materials and volunteer gear.
Take proactive steps to schedule volunteers to fulfill weekly department needs.
Attend off-site and special events, and facilitate large group events as needed.
Travel to offsite volunteer locations (as far as Mesa) and ensure excellent support is provided for volunteers and assigned departments, maximizing volunteer retention.
Help maintain accurate and timely records, run weekly and monthly data reports.
Offer tier one conflict resolution for our volunteers and assigned departments.
Carry out other special projects and assignments as needed.

Qualifications Education / Certifications / Licenses/Experience: High school diploma/GED Two years of experience in an administrative role.
One to three years of demonstrated experience organizing projects.
Excellent people skills and ability to develop and maintain excellent interpersonal rapport with volunteers and employees.
Knowledge of or willingness to gain animal handling skills.
Top-notch organizational skills.
Presentation skills in both one-on-one and in a group setting.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Conflict resolution skills and good judgment.
Must be adaptable to change and able to work independently.
Must be able to work weekends.
Proficiency in Word, Excel, and database programs.
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities: Language - Excellent verbal and written communication skills; Spanish language helpful.
Mathematical - Basic Technical - Proficiency with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook and Explorer; able to learn other software programs as necessary.
Proficiency with or ability to learn/use Chameleon software (for use with animals in a shelter environment).
Other: Regular attendance, punctuality, and access to reliable transportation are required.
Valid Driver's License.
Work Environment / Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls, reach with hands and arms, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
