What you'll do:
Viasat’s Multi-Function Solutions team is responsible for developing phased array antennas and systems that are designed to be highly reliable and able to withstand the harsh DoD conditions.
These antennas will perform multiple functions including radar and communications by integrating with software definable radios.
This includes designing and building airborne and ground systems that are capable of surviving and continuing to function in the face of extreme temperatures, and other environmental challenges.
The day-to-day:
Examples of day to day tasks include:
Standardize existing software and firmware designs for broader system application
Work with existing, expert software and firmware teams
Add software and firmware features for software defined phased array systems
Crafting new embedded software or firmware (Programmable Logic) functions
Integrate and test software and firmware
Write unit tests or simulations, deploy to hardware, test with various pieces of test equipment
Automate development and testing to support continuous integration and continuous deployment
Write, replicate, and integrate existing CICD pipelines for new Embedded System Product
Document to facilitate re-use
Document design, deployment, testing, and new features
What you'll need:
Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree or higher in computer science or a related field
Experience using C and/or C++
Prior experience with Linux or RTOS platforms
Current US Citizenship
Ability to commit to a 10-12 week summer internship
What will help you on the job:
Expertise with multi-threaded applications and inter-process communication
Embedded System experience
Embedded Processors (bare metal, embedded Linux, PetaLinux)
Software (C, C++, python, Linux)
Firmware (Xilinx FPGA (MPSoC), Verilog, VHDL)
CI/CD (Groovy, python, makefiles, Jenkins)
RF Hardware and Test equipment experience
RF Hardware (RF Data Converters)
Test Equipment (RF Sig Gens, Arbitrary Waveform Generators, Spectrum Analyzer, Oscilloscope, Power Supplies)
RF/Hardware test equipment scripting (SCPI, python)
Salary range: $21 - $66 / hourly : At Viasat, we consider many factors when it comes to compensation, including the scope of the position as well as your background and experience.
Base pay may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
Additional cash or stock incentives may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered.
