Job Type Unclassified Department Flood Control District About the Position Within the Flood Control District, the Civil Engineering Specialist will be essential to the development of databases, processes, and software applications related to Computer Aided Drafting and Design (CAD) and Geographic Information Systems (GIS).

Knowledge of Photogrammetric/LiDAR mapping principles Experience using/creating Digital Surface Models Job Contributions Perform GIS data analysis and analyze radar-estimated rainfall totals.
compile and integrate geospatial data for analysis; determine proper GIS data specifications; review GIS data quality; create, convert, transfer, manipulate, and analyze data, analytical models, and scripts to automate tasks; develop, design, monitor, modify, update and program GIS applications and databases including ArcGIS Online Create maps for Flood Response Plans and Emergency Action Plans using specific GIS shapefiles and raster files specific to the project.
Prepares exhibits, charts, maps, visual aids, and presentation material.
Update, create, and input into ESRI GIS databases verifying spatial accuracy and correctness of the attribution in order to bring data up to database specifications Review LiDAR and photogrammetric mapping data to ensure necessary mapping accuracies and specifications are maintained Operate and maintain sUAS/Drones for use in mapping, surveying, and inspections.
Duties include flight plan preparation, data collection, processing, and documentation Produce technically accurate drawings for civil engineering design projects using MicroStation/OpenRoads/InRoads software Working Conditions Must possess or have the ability to obtain a valid Arizona driver’s license by the time of hire Exerting 20 - 25 pounds occasionally, 10 - 25 pounds frequently, or up to 10 pounds constantly The work will occur in an office and field environment.
While performing the duties and responsibilities, the employee may be exposed to loud noise, noxious odors, unsanitary conditions, chemicals, electricity, moving mechanical parts, varying weather conditions, and other related conditions and situations.
Position is subject to atmospheric conditions: Fumes, odors, dust, mists, gases, or poor ventilation Machines, Tools, Equipment, Software, and Hardware ArcMap, ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, Bentley MicroStation and InRoads, and Digital Surface Models.
