Job Summary: The Server Administrator I will be responsible for designing, implementing, and monitoring the server infrastructure; they will also be responsible for collaborating with different teams to ensure high levels of service availability and performance.
They are expected to provide advanced technical support for issues that are escalated from the help desk and other IT teams.
Job Responsibilities: Design, set up, and manage information networks and servers to meet the organization's performance and security requirements.
Perform regular system upgrades to enhance operating efficiency and stay current with technology trends.
Troubleshoot and resolve server-related issues escalated from help desk, providing timely and effective solutions.
Monitor network and server performance, generate performance statistics and reports, and implement improvements as needed.
Review diagnostics, assess system functionality and efficiency, and recommend enhancements.
Develop and maintain server architecture and configuration procedures to ensure consistency and reliability.
Conduct regular security checks, apply protective measures, and collaborate with the security team to maintain network integrity.
Implement and oversee disaster recovery and backup procedures to ensure data integrity and business continuity.
Collaborate with other IT teams and external vendors to resolve technical issues and contribute to cross-functional projects.
Conduct training sessions for help desk and other IT personnel to promote efficiency and knowledge sharing.
Participate in the evaluation and implementation of new technologies to enhance the organization's server infrastructure.
Education, Licensure & Certifications: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field preferred.
Experience: Proven experience as a Server Administrator, preferably at an entry to mid-level.
Relevant internship or hands-on project experience is advantageous.
Knowledge, Skills, Capabilities: Strong understanding of server hardware, network technologies, and protocols.
Familiarity with virtualization and containerization technologies.
Knowledge of disaster recovery, backup solutions, and security principles.
Strong troubleshooting and critical thinking skills.
Good communication and documentation skills.
Industry certifications like CompTIA Server+, or equivalent, are a plus.
Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
Experience with cloud environments, such as AWS or Azure.
Familiarity with scripting languages like PowerShell or Python.
Basic knowledge of network security concepts and technologies.
Eagerness to learn and adapt to new technologies.
