*Job Purpose: * The Senior Scientist - Volatile Analysis is a senior position in research and development, responsible for leading research projects and developing new products and technologies.
Senior Scientists are expected to ideate, plan, design, and conduct advanced studies to support research and development towards creating new analytical tools.
They will investigate and develop new procedures; summarize data and analyze results, independently formulate conclusions, and determine future experiments.
They will act as a lead scientist and will interact/coordinate with other groups and functions to support the research and development of company products.
Technical expertise, creative problem solving, careful project planning, and effective communication are essential for success in this role.
*Duties & Responsibilities:* 1.
Gas Chromatography - Mass Spectrometry (GC -MS) and liquid chromatography (LC -MS) data collection and analysis: conduct research and analysis quantifying cannabinoid compounds in liquid and vapor samples.
2.
Method development and validation: Develop and validate new analytical methods for cannabinoid analysis, ensuring they meet required standards and are suitable for specific research needs.
3.
Quality control, assurance, equipment maintenance: Implement and oversee quality control procedures to ensure the integrity and accuracy of analytical results, and maintain or trouble-shoot analytical equipment as required.
4.
Technical expertise: Apply advanced scientific knowledge in analytical methods to projects while following SOPs and other industry required regulations.
5.
Experimental design and implementation: Conceive/design/plan/coordinate advanced independent and collaborative studies required for product research and development.
Prioritize studies and activities to align with project goals and be responsible for timely project completion.
6.
Perform other duties as assigned.
*Job Requirements:* 1.
PhD in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Engineering OR a Masters with 3-4 years' industry experience OR a BS with 5-7 years' industry experience required.
2.
Skilled in volatile organic compound analysis and quantification.
Experience with environmental sampling and analysis of volatile organic compounds 3.
2 years: GC-MS and/or LC-MS analysis with method development and validation required.

Ability to solve technical problems creatively and efficiently 5.
Ability to convert business requirements into actionable technical requirements 6.
Ability to work with globally diverse and fast-paced team 7.
Maintain complete and comprehensive records of testing and findings following detailed formats for laboratory notebooks and data collection.
8.
Collaborate cross-functionally with scientists, process scientists and R&D leadership to support research and development of products.
9.
Write summaries and reports.
Assist with drafting and revisions to SOPs, laboratory records and other documentation as assigned.
10.
Assist in the training/coaching of new scientists.
Provide technical and scientific leadership to other team members.
11.
Actively participate in routine maintenance, chemical and asset inventory management, hazardous waste management and disposal, and lab safety programs as required by SOPs and testing procedures.
Hold themselves and colleagues accountable for laboratory safety compliance.
12.
Professionally represent the company mission and directives in the local technology industry ecosystem.
13.
Maintain a high level of professional expertise by staying current with scientific and industry literature, technologies and products.
14.
Present complex technical findings/conclusions and project status updates to internal partners and peers.
Prepare patent documentation based on findings.
