The Systems Engineer is responsible for the overall configuration, maintenance, administration, and design of enterprise systems within Comtech IT.
Responsibilities include installing, configuring, and administering Windows and Linux-based products within a complex, quick paced production environment, and always maintaining high system availability.
The Systems Engineer will also work closely with data owners and other IT members to ensure a smooth implementation process whenever a new system is brought into the environment or upgraded.
This person will also provide Tier 2 IT Support.
Desired Experience:
Qualified candidates should have a minimum of two years system administration and engineering experience in a Windows and Linux environment.
4+ years in this type of environment is preferred.
Active Directory and Azure/Entra ID directory services knowledge is required
Knowledge of hardware virtualization technologies like VMware ESXi and Microsoft Hyper-V
Familiar with fundamental operational concepts such as change control, ITIL, SDLC, and importance of good documentation and problem ownership.
Ability to support Fiber Channel and iSCSI SAN hardware
Strong troubleshooting skills with network technologies such as TCP/IP, DNS, and DHCP.
Mobile Device Management experience, specifically with Microsoft Intune, Autopilot, and software packaging and deployment
Managing Windows and Linux system backup software (Commvault, Druva, etc.
)
MacOS administration experience desirable
Two-factor technologies: RSA, Duo, Microsoft Entra Conditional Access
Responsibilities:
Manage user account life cycle including users and group access rights.
Build out new Windows and Linux server based on business needs.
Candidates must be detail-oriented and have strong troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skills.
Requires being able to work flexible work hours, including occasional weekend work, is required.
Travel flexibility is required for this position
The Systems Engineer is expected to be available after hours for support escalations.
Perform routine monitoring/checks of Internet software, security, procedures, and patches.
Education:
Bachelor’s Degree in Information Systems or related fields, or equivalent job experience
Network, OS, and software certifications are desirable
