Purpose
To experience planning-related activities for residential, commercial and public land development projects for Bowman's growing Land Planning Group.
Key Responsibilities
At the Operational and Company Level
Work closely with more senior staff members to develop a strong foundation to support the Land Planning Group.
Do the Work
Assists staff in collecting and preparing data for various planning projects
Conducts field work, collects parcel data and searches land records
Research and document physical site opportunities and constraints.
Prepares maps and planning reports of limited or variable complexity
Produces sketches and renderings of limited or variable complexity
Assist in the preparation of submittal documents to obtain zoning approvals / permits.
Assist in maintaining planning project flow process documentation.

Education, Work Experience, Licensure/Certifications, and Technical Requirements
High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent commensurate experience required.
Currently enrolled in an urban planning, landscape architecture, or civil engineering program.
Basic understanding of planning principles
Knowledge of principles and practices of research and data collection
Knowledge of effective writing techniques
Valid state driver's license and passing a motor vehicle check.
Competency in various computer software programs, such as Microsoft Office and Internet applications
Skill using industry-standard planning software and graphic design applications (AutoCAD, Photoshop, Sketchup, etc.
) is a plus.
Must be at least 18 years old.
Physical Demands and Working Environment
Partially indoor professional office environment which may include exposure to bright/dim light, noise, fumes, odors, and traffic.
Partially outdoor work environment which may include exposure to adverse weather conditions, varying temperatures, excessive noise, and/or potential hazards.
Mobility around an office environment.
Frequent and prolonged use of standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
Mobility around a job/construction site to include walking, bending, crawling, climbing, squatting, or kneeling and wearing of required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
Primarily local travel during the business day.
Occasional lifting or carrying up to 20 pounds.
Occasional pushing or pulling up to 20 pounds.
Occasional reaching outward or above shoulder.
