We are growing and eager to add skill & experience to our team!\*\*_ *JOB SUMMARY* A Field Technician Level 4 (L4 Tech) performs the addition and removal of Common Systems equipment on live and non-live networks.
The L4 Tech also operates as the Lead Field Technician, thus directing the activities of lower level Installation Technicians.
The L4 Tech mentors lower level Techs by displaying proper work techniques and providing On-The-Job Training for all tasks described in the L1, L2, and L3 job descriptions.
The L4 Tech has proficient knowledge of DC power concepts and performs -48DC power work on live systems, without need of supervision.
The L4 Tech has the ability to train all L1-L3 job tasks and can do all tasks independent of supervision.
The L4 Tech also performs Site Surveys for use in Engineering.
The L4 Tech will be performing critical processes and procedures to ensure the customer’s network is viable and performing to the equipment manufacturer’s specifications.
This position is extremely challenging requiring dedication and the ability to absorb and retain information quickly and efficiently.
*NOTE: We are project based.
While overtime can be quite frequent, 40 Hours per week is not guaranteed.
* \*_Income supplement option if there is ever a break between projects is available and can be discussed during an interview.
_ *100% US Travel Required (must have prior travel experience) *_\*When you are on a job, you will be traveling.
There will be opportunities for PTO and occasional breaks/weekends home.

_ *JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES* Proficient with all install related tasks.
Proficient with all documentation related tasks.
Able to Work proficiently with minimal guidance.
Complete and submit time and expense reporting and project documentation (redlines and EDPs) correctly and in a timely manner Read and become familiar with all of the requirements for each job as is written in the job Methods of Procedure prior to the job kickoff meetings.
Assure that all job materials, IRM, tools, and test equipment are on-site and accounted for prior to the start of each job.
(This includes staging all the equipment) Train lower-level technicians on all aspects of installation and documentation per SynchroNet, Inc.
and industry standards.
Perform as lead on projects with lower-level technicians assisting in the completion of the projects.
Safely drive company owned and rented vehicles/trailers Remove trash and debris from job sites daily, making sure that all job materials are removed prior to trash removal.
Install/Remove components with live networks as a Lead Field Technician: * Ironwork * Ladder rack * Fiber raceway * Rack/Cabinet Lacing: * Power Cabling * Signal Cabling Fiber: * Running/removing fiber patch cords * Terminating to FDPs (Fiber Distribution Panels) Labeling: * Racks/Cabinets * Equipment * Power Cables * Signaling Cables * Fiber Patch Cords Perform -48DC power work on live systems: * In BDFB’s: * Install breakers * Terminate feed and return power cables in BDFB and relay rack fuse panels or relay rack equipment * Terminate safety grounds on relay racks and equipment * Label equipment and cables * Install breaker alarm strapping Perform battery plant installations/removals.
Perform rectifier installations/removals.
Perform Site Surveys: * Generate Installation Related Materials (IRM) lists * Generate customer site letters * Draw floor plans * Take pictures and measurements as needed Submit ECR or RED LINE for any change that would alter the work items, assignments, and/or specifications.
Ability to analyze Engineering Design Packages (EDP) and Visio Drawings Perform on-site physical audits.
Perform in-process and final quality inspections.
(Virtual Audits) Perform the following Fiber Optic Characterization and Test / Turn-Up functions: * May perform Fiber Optic Characterization per project requirements.
* Log directly into nodes and perform basic commissioning functions as needed for the various types of equipment being installed.
* Load and confirm initial network parameters and commissioning.
* Validate functionality using testing equipment.
* Proficient with initial network parameters, provisioning, and commissioning.
* Understand signal flows and system drawings.
* Understand and set up test plans.
* Proficient with setting up test sets for BER, latency, and customer required tests under direct supervision.
* Proficient with capturing test results and submit to manager.
* Proficient with acceptance checks of equipment to ensure it meets customer needs.
Assist with additional duties as instructed by job lead and/or manager.

*EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & TRAINING* _Candidate/incumbents must meet the minimum qualifications as detailed below or have a combination of education and/or experience deemed equivalent by management.
_ *Education:* * High School Diploma *Experience:* * Worked as an L3 Field Tech (as a Lead Tech in power and installations) for a minimum twelve (12) months with no unresolved issues.
* Proficient at installing and logging into multiple vendors’ equipment * Successfully passed the Level 4 Technician Skills Exam.
*Training:* * SynchroNet Power Training Module (web based and aptitude) prior to assisting with the power work specified in this job description.
* Complete the Level 3 Logbook and associated training *Skills/Abilities/Qualifications* * Must be willing to travel 100%.
* Worked as a Field Tech (as a Lead Tech in power, testing, commissioning, and installations) for a minimum twelve (12) months with no unresolved issues.
* Experience in a CO or Data center environment * Experience with commissioning & provisioning all systems & components * Proficient at installing and logging into multiple vendors’ equipment * Read and write; great written and verbal communication skills.
* Provide and maintain a valid driver’s license and vehicle insurance * Provide and maintain a satisfactory Motor Vehicle Report * Drive safely * Drive company trucks while pulling trailers using manual and automatic transmissions (this includes backing trailers safely as well) * Must be able to learn and apply new skills quickly.
* Must be self-motivated and self-driven.
* Great time management and documentation skills.
* Operate a Brady Labeler.
* Must be able to type at least 45 WPM with 95% accuracy.
* Work extremely well in a team environment with direct supervision.
* Must have the ability to work long hours, work at different times of day/night (odd hours) and stressful environments.
