A Logical and Physical Data Modeler using Erwin Data Modeler with experience in data definition mapping and lineage is a specialized role in data architecture and database design.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Data Modeling: Develop and maintain logical data models to represent business data requirements accurately.
Translate logical models into physical models, ensuring efficient database performance and adherence to database design standards.
Erwin Data Modeler Usage: Utilize the Erwin Data Modeler tool for creating and maintaining data models.
Ensure that models created in Erwin are in sync with the databases and other data management systems.
Data Definition Mapping: Map data definitions across different systems and platforms.
Develop and maintain documentation of data definitions, ensuring clarity and consistency across the organization.
Data Lineage and Governance: Trace and document data lineage from source to target systems.
Work closely with data governance teams to ensure data standards and policy compliance.
Collaboration with Stakeholders: Collaborate with business analysts, data engineers, and IT staff to understand data needs.
Translate business requirements into data models and structures.
Database Optimization: Assist in database design and optimization, focusing on performance, scalability, and security.
Provide recommendations for database improvements based on data modeling insights.
Change Management: Manage changes to data models, including version control and impact analysis.
Communicate changes and updates to relevant stakeholders.
Training and Mentoring: Provide training and guidance to less experienced team members in data modeling and Erwin Data Modeler.
Stay updated with the latest trends in data modeling and Erwin tool enhancements.
Education and Work Experience Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
Proven experience in data modeling, both logical and physical, preferably with Erwin Data Modeler.
Strong understanding of data definition mapping and data lineage principles.
Experience with database technologies (SQL, NoSQL) and data warehousing principles.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Strong communication and collaboration abilities.
Plus to have Experience in a specific industry (e.
g.
, government, finance, healthcare) may be advantageous.
Familiarity with data governance and compliance standards.
Knowledge of ETL processes and data integration techniques.
Work Environment This job operates in a professional remote office environment.
This role routinely uses standard office equipment, including but not limited to, computers, phones, and photocopiers.
Physical Demands This position requires the frequent and repetitive use of a computer, keyboard, and mouse.
Hand and finger dexterity is required.
