They will be the primary person responsible for full cycle accounting entry and processing, period end General Ledger review, reconciliation, adjusting entries and reporting.
They will work directly with the VP of Operation on tracking and compliance related to ERISA, USDOT, employee training and apprenticeship programs.
The ideal candidate will possess several years of construction accounting experience using Sage 100 and will have a professional, self-motivated attitude and initiative to perform these key functions for the company with minimal supervision.
They will have advanced Excel skills and be comfortable troubleshooting and updating Sage software.
We are seeking an individual with the desire and capacity to advance within the company to a Controller position in the future, including adding staff.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities: Accounts Receivable – Billing, Receive Payments, Collections Accounts Payable – Vendor & Credit Card Entries & Payments General journal entries Sales tax reporting Backup for Payroll processing and tax liability reporting & payments Asset management including depreciation, tracking, allocating costs Assisting with creating and generating various financial analysis tools and reports Maintain Sage 100 ERP software and third party add-on programs with required updates Work with consultant to perform processes requiring their support Work with consultant to maintain existing and implement new third party programs Manage benefit program (health, 401k) ERISA compliance Summary Plan Descriptions Reporting & Documentation Assist with Insurance Renewal and Management/Oversight of policies (General Liability, Auto, Inland Marine, Professional Liability & Workers Compensation) Backup front office staff with telephone support Disclaimer: The above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by employees assigned to this position.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Advanced level proficiency with Microsoft Office suite: Outlook, Word, Excel including queries, pivot tables, vlookups, sumif Experienced using Sage 100, Sage Service Operations, Liberty Reports Experienced with implementing and maintaining software Comfortable communicating (verbal & written) and collaborating with members of different departments and field crews Experience using copiers, scanners, printers, and multi-line telephone systems Strong understanding of the construction industry Strong ethical standards regarding the handling of confidential information Strong organizational skills and high attention to detail Able to work independently or as a team player to perform duties in a timely manner Comfortable working in a small office environment where each team member helps out wherever is needed SSC is an Equal Opportunity Employer
