Job Summary This position primarily supports the Honors Program at Rio Salado College providing front-line student support and collaborating with various departments across the College.
Assists the Honors Director in planning events, activities, and initiatives to grow the honors program, managing social media accounts and implementing strategies to foster a sense of belonging within the honors community.
Works with confidential student records to track and maintain scholarship data according to guidelines and compliance regulations.
In addition to the aforementioned, the program coordinator will also process all applications for honors scholarships (Presidents' Honors Scholarship (PHS), Honors Achievement Award (HAA), Chancellor and Foundation), follow-up on student progress for continuous honors students, creating records for accepted honor students, documenting Customer Relations Management (CRM), enrolling student through Student Information Systems (SIS) and Honors-100 course.
Also, the honors coordinator will assist with recruiting and outreach efforts.
The Program Coordinator will report to the Instructional Services Supervisor and will partially assist with the day-to-day operations of the Instructional Helpdesk, including answering calls, creating helpdesk tickets and resolving student instructional concerns.
Essential Functions 25% - Confidentially monitors, tracks, and records student completion of program and scholarship requirements, including logging proof of co-curricular activities, monitoring GPA each semester, evaluating transcripts, and preparing reports for the Honors Director 25% - Maintains current information in the program’s website and event calendar, supports students via chat, email, and phone calls, provides front-line student support; develops and hosts virtual and in person information sessions; leads recruitment and outreach efforts for current and prospective honor students virtually and in person 25% - Assists with the day-to-day operations of the Instructional Helpdesk; including answering calls, creating helpdesk tickets and helping to resolve student instructional concerns 15% - Collaborates with Dual Enrollment, Faculty Chairs, and Student Affairs to coordinate and facilitate growth of the honors program.
Coordinates special events and community learning activities, such as honors retreat, graduation, Phoenix Symphony, and Meet and Greet 10% - Performs other duties as assigned such as recruitment (virtual and in person), honors activities and coordinates special events and community learning activities Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree from a regionally accredited institution in education, business or public administration, or a directly related field and one year of experience in researching information, gathering data, performing preliminary analysis and preparing reports.
OR An equivalent combination of the conferred degree and directly related full-time work experience as described above sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above, unless otherwise subject to any other requirements set forth in law or regulation, may be considered.
Desired Qualifications A.
Two (2) or more years of experience working in higher education with a diverse population of students, faculty, and staff B.
One (1) year of experience working with confidential data/information and knowledge of Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) rules and requirements C.
Effective written communication skills.
Typing and spelling competency.

Two (2) or more years of experience providing quality customer service via telephone and email E.
Two (2) or more years of experience using a variety of computer software applications such as Google Suite, Microsoft Office, and a Student Information Database F.
One (1) year troubleshooting and problem-solving experience Special Working Conditions ADA and Other Requirements: Positions in this class typically require: fingering, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.
