H-1B visa) for this opportunity*** Grow Your Skills, Grow Your Potential Responsibilities As a Software Engineer in LHIPS, you will play an integral role in supporting the underwriting and actuarial units by helping build, integrate, and support solutions to drive results for the enterprise.
Specifically, we are seeking a talented Python software engineer who is also familiar with developing solutions on AWS.
Experience using AWS SageMaker to deploy predictive models to production is a bonus.
In addition, Java experience is desired for integration with teams that consume our models.
Through this role, your work is essential for helping design, develop, and integrate applications to support the actuarial and modeling processes and to achieve the business objectives for our LHIPS products.
As a Software Engineer you will: • Write testable, clean code in Python and Java that is easily supported and maintained.
• Deploy predictive models at scale.
• Work closely with product team and customer to develop applications for underwriting and actuarial business problems.
• Work cross-functionally with Life Enterprise Technology (ET) team, product team, and business area to integrate deployed predictive models into production systems for end users.
• Work to design, develop, implement, test, and support products for our business area.
• Build and maintain pipelines for development, implementation, execution, validation, monitoring, and improvement of data science solutions.
• Identify problems, related technical issues, and long-term repeatable solutions meeting customer needs.
• Apply an understanding of user experience best practices and test design standards.
• Apply emerging technology solutions to increase efficiency and effectiveness, supporting continuous innovation.
Qualifications Required Qualifications: • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Software Engineering, or Data Science.
• 2+ years of experience in a software engineering role.
• Proficiency in Python 3.
x and relevant libraries (e.
g.
, Pandas, Numpy, Scikit-learn, FastAPI, Pydantic).
• Familiarity with Java.
• Experience using AWS or other cloud platforms.
• Ability to learn and adopt new technologies and languages.
• Critical thinking skills to challenge current thinking and apply right technology to solve problems.
Preferred Qualifications: • Using infrastructure as code technologies such as Terraform or Scalr.
• Experience with Spring Framework and Spring Boot (Java).
• Experience with FastAPI and Pydantic (Python).
• Experience with AWS SageMaker, Lambdas, API Gateway, and IAM.
• Familiarity with Restful APIs and SOAP web services.
• Using Docker or other virtualization technology.
• Automated testing frameworks and practices.
• CI/CD systems, preferably with GitLab/GitOps.
• Experience deploying models for batch, synchronous, and/or asynchronous consumption.
• Familiarity with model validation metrics, including data drift metrics (e.
g.
, population stability index, Kolmogorov-Smirnov test) and model drift metrics (e.
g.
, F1 score, ROC AUC score, RMSE).
