Summary The Engineering Section Leader supervises a multi-functional, single discipline area consistent with regulatory requirements, business unit/division goals and objectives, fiscal policy and established engineering practices.
This position manages two key aspects within our Plant Engineering organization, Plant Operations Computer systems and Innovation Solution development.
Supervises activities needed to perform project management, project design and technical analyses.
Oversees methodologies, verifies conclusions and ensures quality and consistency of information used in the development of engineering related business unit strategies.
Minimum Requirements A four year Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or related applied science discipline (see approved list) from an ABET accredited institution plus five (5) years of experience in engineering positions.
Four (4) years nuclear specific work experience in Engineering or Information Technology.
Working knowledge of applicable codes, standards, practices and methods in the specified engineering discipline and technical knowledge of power plant equipment and operations.
(Meets or exceeds minimum education and experience requirements per Palo Verde Procedure 01DP-0EM08, Appendix A.
) Preferred Special Skills, Knowledge or Qualifications: Professional Engineer designation.
Operations experience.
Approved Engineering degrees: Materials Science/Metallurgy, Physics, Chemistry, Nuclear, Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, Electronics, Computer Science, Environmental, Chemical, Architectural, Structural.
A four-year bachelor of Engineering Technology degree is not considered an automatic equivalent for a B.
S.
degree in Engineering.
A review of the degree program curriculum must be completed by the Engineering Career Path Review Board to determine equivalency level.
Nuclear requirement: Any PVGS employee may be called upon to serve as a member of the Emergency Response Organization (ERO) and will be expected to fulfill their obligation as an ERO member.
Any PVGS employee may be called upon to support a refueling or short-notice outage.
This includes line roles and responsibilities as necessary to execute outage activities.
These are a condition of employment at PVGS.
Major Accountabilities 1) Implements action plans to achieve established department/division goals and objectives.
2) Provides technical direction to ensure conformance to procedures, government regulations and established codes and standards.
3) Selects and develops a high performing team through effective coaching, performance feedback, recognition, training and developmental opportunities.
4) Guides, directs and trains engineers in both engineering design and project management.
5) Provides technical expertise to other groups to resolve complex issues.
6) Provides resource allocation for a multi-functional, single discipline organization to ensure timely and competent resolution of operational technical issues.
7) Provides direction for team members to analyze and recommend strategies to executive management which enhance competitiveness, provide better utilization of resources, and maximize revenues.
8) Monitors expenditures of unit or area of responsibility ensuring prudent use of company money and resources.
9) Implements and supports company policies by functioning as the intermediary between management and frontline employees.

Flex Role: This position is not required to be performed at a specific APS facility as long as adequate technology and a solid ergonomic set up are present.
Pending agreement with leadership, employees hired into this role will be able to choose where they prefer to perform their work.
Employees will have two options to choose from: APS office based: The employee prefers to work most of the time from an APS facility.
Home based: The employee prefers to work most of the time from his/her home.
*Employees in Flex roles are required to reside in Arizona (or NM for Four Corners-based employees).
