60 Annually LOCATION • Scottsdale, AZ JOB TYPE Full-Time Regular JOB NUMBER FY2324-00385 DIVISION COMMUNITY SERVICES DEPARTMENT PARKS & RECREATION PLANNING & ADMIN OPENING DATE 11/16/2023 CLOSING DATE 12/7/2023 11:59 PM Arizona Introduction About the Position The Scottsdale Parks and Recreation Department oversees a wide variety of parks, recreation programs, facilities, and services, all aligned with our mission of creating remarkable recreation places and experiences that support a healthy, inclusive, and active community.
The department manages 45 parks, over 1,000 acres of open space, multiple sports complexes and community centers, Scottsdale Stadium, and a range of recreation programming.
Our new Parks &Recreation Manager will oversee a number of critical park projects, planning initiatives, park maintenance, and recreation programs.
Minimum Qualifications Education and Experience Bachelor's Degree in Recreation Management or closely related field from an accredited educational institution.
Five years increasingly responsible experience in professional recreation.
Must have at least one year of Lead or Supervisory experience.
Experience implementing practices and procedures used in maintaining Parks and Recreation facilities and parks and recreation programs and services.
An equivalent combination of education and job related experience may substitute for the educational requirements on a year-for-year basis.
Licensing, Certifications, and Other Requirements Every person employed by the City of Scottsdale shall reside in the State of Arizona during his or her active employment by the City, regardless of whether the employee is approved to remote work.
Other pertinent licenses and/or certifications may be required of some positions depending on division/department/service assignment.
Essential Functions Performs duties and responsibilities commensurate with assigned functional area which may include, but are not limited to, any combination of the following: Supervises employees and coordinates personnel-related activities to include, but not limited to: Training Approving work schedules Recommending/approving personnel actions Coaching and counseling Establishing performance goals and writing performance evaluations.
Develops, establishes, implements, monitors and achieves Parks & Recreation objectives, goals, and vision.
Develops annual budget plans, prepares monthly reports of the budget status: Prepares assigned annual program budgets and reviews.
Monitors and controls annual budget expenditures and variances throughout the year to ensure funds are available to spend.
Develops cost of services for each discipline and recreation program.
Implements City and departmental policies: Recommends and implements division policy and procedures Enforces and communicates policy decisions for program areas.
Develops annual work plans to determine staffing and workload needs within all program areas.

Lift and carry materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
