Job Summary Reports to the VP of Dairy Operations.
Directs, administers, and coordinates the organization's activities to support policies, goals, and objectives established by the chief executive officer and the Board of Directors by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate managers.
Essential Functions Responsible for milk colostrum operations and milk colostrum procurement so that all aspects of the operational budget are achieved i.
e.
throughput, yield, quality, customer requirements, cost control, safety, and profitability.
Coordinate alignment of business and production plans for operations.
Optimize production operations through the strategic management of personnel, and operational and mechanical resources.
Identify ongoing opportunities for improvement that enable the facility to develop to its optimum profit potential and decrease the cost of production.
Identify and implement best practices in Cheese and Whey production and warehousing.
Oversee maintenance performance and plant maintenance spend.
Oversee engineering and capex project spend.
Liaise with sales to meet customer needs.
Lead daily operations and AM pillars.
Utilizes continuous improvement processes, driving zero losses, and upholds the culture of non-negotiables.
Each employee shall comply with occupational safety and health standards and all rules, regulations, and orders issued pursuant to the Occupational Safety and Health Act, which are applicable to his/her own actions and conduct.
Complies with all applicable food safety regulations and mandates (Safe Quality Foods, Food and Drug Admin, Pasteurized Milk Ordinance) Qualifications Requires a Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of four years of related experience in Dairy Science or a related field.
Five to seven years of related production experience or a combination of education and experience.
Ability to prioritize tasks handling multiple projects simultaneously and delegating assignments to others.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.
Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conforms to prescribed style and format.
Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.
Demonstrated use of intermediate computer operations (basic programming in 3rd and 4th generation languages, relational databases, and operating systems) and intermediate software packages, word processing, spreadsheets, graphics, etc.
Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Ability to define problems, collects data, establishes facts, and draw valid conclusions.
Ability to interpret various technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
Comply with all safety policies, practices, and procedures.
Report all unsafe activities to the supervisor and/or Safety Department.
Proficient personal computer skills including electronic mail, record keeping, routine database activity, word processing, spreadsheet, graphics, etc.
Participate in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals.
Provide leadership to others through example and sharing of knowledge/skill.
