Job Summary: The Manager, Accounting will perform daily and monthly duties in general accounting, statutory accounting, program accounting, accounts payable/receivable, treasury, reinsurance or another function within the department.
The incumbent will be responsible for ensuring accurate and timely recording of data in the accounting systems, assist management and others in making educated economic decisions about the Company’s future, and safeguard financial operations and assets by ensuring filing, reporting and control requirements are continuously met.
Additional responsibilities include planning, analytics, resource management and ultimate accountability for functional performance results.
The incumbent will be responsible for these aspects for multiple U.

companies and will direct the work of one or more staff along these lines.
Duties and Responsibilities: • Continuously exhibit and uphold Core Values of Integrity, Accountability, Communication and Teamwork, Innovation and Customer Service • Oversee all aspects of one or more functions within the Finance department, including all service deliverables to all customers • Establish strategy/vision, goals/targets, and key performance indicators to reflect successful performance and continuous improvement • Support and enhance the department’s shared services direction and strategy • Implement policies and procedures to enforce internal controls, including Sarbanes Oxley responsibility across multiple areas • Provide monthly management reporting, analysis and communication of performance results • Lead technical accounting research and application, including supporting SEC and regulatory reporting and compliance requirements • Oversee monthly and quarterly account reconciliations and ledger maintenance • Identify and perform various ad-hoc projects including researching, analyzing, and communicating data/analysis/recommendations • Lead implementation of prioritized initiatives • Assist in the recruitment and development of accounting and finance employees to support long-term management strategy, goals and objectives • Effectively manage performance and development of assigned employees Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: • Understanding of generally accepted accounting principles • Strong knowledge of successful accounting operations and internal control processes • Working familiarity with enterprise-level financial systems and data architectures • Ability to cultivate and manage numerous internal and external relationships, including management, business partners, regulators and suppliers • Ability to recruit, manage, motivate, and develop others • Excellent written and verbal communication skills • Strong work ethic with a drive to succeed; high level of initiative and motivation • Proactive self-starter with a bias toward teamwork • Strong analytical skills with exceptional attention to detail • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple deadlines • Desire to embrace flexibility in a rapidly changing environment • Intermediate to expert level proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.
) Experience and Education: Finance Associate • High School Diploma or Associates Degree required • Actively pursuing or achieved a bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related area of study preferred • Prior experience or internship in corporate finance a plus Finance Associate II • High School Diploma or Associates Degree required • Actively pursuing or achieved a bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related area of study preferred • One or more years’ experience in corporate accounting or finance required Staff Accountant • Bachelor’s Degree in accounting, finance or related required • Three years’ experience in corporate and/or public accountancy or finance roles required • Working towards CPA designation a plus • Hands-on accounting experience within the Property and Casualty Insurance industry desired, but not required Staff Accountant II • Bachelor’s Degree in accounting, finance or related required • CPA designation strongly preferred • Five years’ experience in corporate and/or public accountancy or finance roles required • Two years of hands-on accounting experience within the Property and Casualty Insurance industry strongly preferred Senior Accountant • Bachelor’s Degree in accounting, finance or related required • CPA designation strongly preferred • Six years’ experience in corporate and/or public accountancy or finance roles required • Four years of hands-on accounting experience within the Property and Casualty Insurance industry strongly preferred Assistant Manager, Accounting • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related required; Master’s degree preferred • Minimum of six years of hands-on accounting experience with GAAP or statutory accounting required • CPA designation strongly preferred • Knowledge of insurance operations and/or specific functional operations is preferred • Experience in a highly-regulated and/or financial services environment is preferred • Prior management experience preferred Manager, Accounting • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance or related required; Master’s Degree preferred • Minimum of eight (8) years hands-on accounting experience with GAAP, statutory accounting, or related required • CPA designation strongly preferred • Knowledge of insurance operations and/or specific functional operations preferred • Experience in a highly-regulated and/or financial services environment preferred • Prior management experience preferred Director, Finance • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related required; Master’s degree preferred • Minimum of ten years of hands-on accounting experience with corporate finance, accounting or related required • CPA designation strongly preferred • Minimum of five years of insurance operations and/or specific functional operations • Minimum of eight years of management experience • Experience in a highly-regulated and/or financial services environment is preferred #LI-JB1 #LI-Remote
