As the Shea Discovery Kids Pastor, you are a vital part of the Team, responsible for carrying on the Vision, Mission and Values of SBC.
In this role, you will report to Central Discovery Kids Pastor and are responsible for providing supervision and leadership to Discovery Kids Shea and to help kids discover who God is and His plan for their lives.
Your Essential Responsibilities: In this position, you will: Cast Vision Cast vision, build a team, and execute ministry in Discovery Kids grades 1-5 and oversee the PreK-K , Nursery, and DK Shea admin Communicate and represent the vision of Discovery Kids and SBC to parents and volunteers on a regular basis Build Teams Work as a collaborative and cooperative member of the Discovery Kids and Next Gen Ministry Teams Oversee the recruitment, training, development, and care of the volunteers and Jr.
volunteers as needed for weekend services and special events and oversee the DK Shea elementary, preschool, nursery coordinators and volunteer teams Develop and provide leadership to the following ministry teams: Greeter, Kids Check, Set up/Clean up, Worship and AVL Execute Ministry Create an environment that is safe, fun and represents Jesus for all kids in your area Ensure that all aspects of Kids Check are ready Welcome and connect with all new families Make sure all DK ministries are fully staffed at all weekend services Oversee that the DK Shea building, and all included areas are clean, stocked, and organized Help develop, memorize, and record the weekly video teaching for all of DK Edit weekly small group curriculum and distribute to volunteer leads for weekend services Plan a fun and engaging large group experience for weekend services.
Develop volunteers to be included in its implementation, as well as oversee that the PreK-K and Nursery meet the same levels of excellence Supervise Shea Discovery Kids team and provide ongoing team building and development Develop and monitor annual goals, objectives, and budgets Oversee the cleanliness of the Shea Discovery Kids building Act as part of the Discovery Kids Central Team Be responsible for and participate in the planning and implementing of Discovery Kids mid-week programming and any/all Discovery Kids events In addition to normal work hours, you will be required to work on Sundays and Wednesday nights As a Team Leader, you will: Supervise Discovery Kids Team Member(s) and provide ongoing team building and development Act as a servant leader by training, encouraging, coaching, and developing your Team Member(s) Develop and monitor annual goals, objectives, and budgets Foster a spirit of trust and of innovation on your team Meet personally in a pre-scheduled one-on-one meeting with each Team Member at least once a month Meet as a DK Shea team once a week Approve PTO requests, timecards, and expense reports Other Responsibilities (Non-Essential): Assist in the development of and manage the annual budget for Discovery Kids Related duties or special projects as assigned Skills you need to succeed: Knowledge of: Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word) Demonstrated competency in: Decision quality Developing Direct Reports and volunteers Confronting Direct Reports and volunteers Relational skills, such as high value of people, aspires to serve others, foster a healthy and amiable spiritual environment, approachable and accessible, work collaboratively with others and in team environments, appreciation for own and other’s giftedness Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills Developing and leading teams/volunteers of all ages and backgrounds On-going recruitment of volunteers Delegating tasks and responsibilities Computer literacy Time-management Ability to: Work with adults and children Maintain a high degree of professionalism and accuracy Be a change agent Successfully manage others and be accountable for the work results of others Be flexible Work in a multi-faceted environment with little supervision Forecast as well as attend to weekly details Handle confidential information Discern needs and respond appropriately Personal Qualifications: Committed to spiritual growth Relationally unified Servant-hearted Operates in grace and truth Lives out the vision of Discovery Kids and SBC in their personal life; leads by example Demonstrate a growing faith in Jesus Christ Committed to train and empower leaders Servant’s Heart Spiritual calling to Children and Youth ministry Detail-oriented Highly organized Integrity of work habits and results Team Player Positive can-do attitude; takes initiative Desire for individual & professional growth Consistently strives for excellence Personable in working with staff and volunteers Regular attender and SBC member, or willing to become a member Education and/or experience: A level of education (or working toward) and experience commensurate with the position.
Master of Arts or Master of Divinity or equivalent; more than 5 years of demonstrated ministry leadership experience 3 years of experience in ministry, children’s programming, childcare industry, or relevant role 3 years of experience in team environment This position requires in-office work and does not qualify for a remote arrangement.
