ASU, the leading innovator in Higher Education, seeks a leader to create and develop a Safety in Science practice.
Working within the Enterprise Technology Cybersecurity Core, the successful candidate will contribute to the advancement of research and emerging technologies by leading the development of wide bridges interconnecting cybersecurity, governance, risk, and compliance practices with researchers, academics, and innovators across the ASU Public Enterprise.
This position will report to the Executive Director for Cybersecurity within ET.

edu/culture/positive-core As part of our strong and growing Cybersecurity Core, you will utilize your extensive expertise to define programmatic objectives advancing Safety in Science and lead work to enable research activities through enterprise management of cybersecurity risk.
Partnering with the Knowledge Enterprise at ASU you will lead efforts to provide IT environments and controls to reduce risk and friction of research and technology innovation.
You will be a subject matter expert on controlling regulated data, responding to audits, and leading the work of others.
You’ll gain experience in a large, complex Public Enterprise that supports faculty, staff, and learners throughout the world.

Salary Range $80,003 - $166,159 per year; DOE Close Date 14-December-2023 - EXTENDED Category 03 Essential Duties Lead and work in teams that defend against cyber threats, malware, and compromised systems impacting, or likely to, impact the university.
Lead other analysts in investigations, incident response, network forensics, vulnerability remediation, architecture reviews, threat hunting, and red team exercises.
Advance work with different teams across the university to build an understanding of the threat landscape specific to a large and complex technology environment.
Actively improve processes and automate routine procedures.
Evaluate, recommend, and implement improvements to capabilities, to include tools, data, and methods for security operations.
Directly supervise other Cybersecurity professionals of varying backgrounds including coaching, mentoring, planning and executing on career development, and be accountable for the quality and outcomes of the work of your team members.
Take responsibility for fostering culture, advancing our values, and championing engagement in all its forms - collaborating across our teams as well as participating in ET/ASU events and programs.

Minimum Qualifications Master's degree in Information Technology or related field and 2 years of experience OR 8 years of experience in information technology OR Any equivalent combination of education and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.
Desired Qualifications Evidence of academic and/or healthcare professional experience securing regulated research through cybersecurity, governance, risk management, and compliance Demonstrated ability to lead both people & work through uncertainty toward outcomes Evidence of academic and/or professional certifications in cybersecurity and/or governance, risk, and compliance (e.

, GSEC, GCED, GCIA, GCIH, GPEN, GNFA, GPCS, GCSA, GDSA, CEH, CISSP) Demonstrated experience architecting and implementing secure environments supporting regulated research Evidence of direct experience in security operations; detecting, responding to, and containing enterprise-wide threats Demonstrated knowledge of controls, standards, policies, and regulatory compliance Experience with public cloud technology is expected Expert-level experience in common operating systems, networks, and security controls Experience with common cybersecurity tools Intrusion detection tools Log event management and analysis tools Endpoint-based intrusion prevention tools Vulnerability, patch, and update management tools Ability to correlate activity across assets (endpoint, network, apps) and environments (on-premises, cloud) to identify patterns of anomalous activity Knowledge of modern system designs using cloud native and infrastructure as code Experience with common cloud languages and orchestration (e.

The successful candidate is required to be consistently present on-campus three or more days per week within six months of hire.
Work is performed in a hybrid office environment with flexible working space(s).
Activities are performed in an environmentally controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting, keyboarding and manipulating a computer mouse.
Required to stand for varying lengths of time and walk moderate distances to perform work.
Occasional bending, reaching, lifting, pushing and pulling up to 25 pounds.
