Job Description
Benjamin Franklin Charter School is looking for an Earth Science Teacher to join our Junior High/High School Team for the 2024-2025 school year.
Responsibilities
Implement a dynamic hands-on inquiry based Earth Science program designed to model and inspire wonder and nurture student curiosity about the natural world.
Utilize phenomena based instruction to facilitate connections between theoretical practices and everyday scientific events, allowing students to explain and predict events that occur in the world around us.
While under the direct supervision of the Principal, the Teacher will plan, organize, and implement the school’s instructional program in a learning environment that motivates and guides students to develop and fulfill their academic potential.

Promote and adhere to BFCS policies and procedures.
Provide a safe, structured environment focused on academic excellence.
Create a learning environment that is engaging and conducive to effective instruction; maintain standards of student behavior.
Prepare and follow lesson plans correlated with the prescribed curriculum and pacing guides.
Communicate learning objectives to students in a well-planned, organized manner using clear and precise language.
Monitor and assess student progress; provide ongoing feedback to students and parents, communicating respectfully and professionally at all times.
Rely on Socratic questioning techniques to check for student understanding, help students draw connections, and develop student reasoning.
Use classroom and state assessment data to inform and improve instruction.
Maintain accurate, complete, and legible records as required by law and school policy.
Reflect on teaching practices and strive to improve professional competence.
Attend staff meetings and serve on committees as required.
Participate in curriculum development programs as required.
Be an active presence on campus, including staff meetings, schoolwide events, parent-teacher conferences, and other scheduled meetings as required.
Meet any additional specific job requirements as indicated by the school site or District.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or University
Arizona Teacher Certificate preferred
Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card
Will be required to pass a criminal background check upon hire
