About the position This Part -Time Doctoral Instructor (Doctoral Faculty) position is for University Research Methodologist (URM).
Which supports the overall instructional and academic excellence of their respective doctoral program/content area.
An individual coordinates with central administration and various stakeholders to inform University leadership about the changing needs of specific student populations for the purpose of continual quality improvement of education programs.
Serve as a faculty teaching within the program curricula for online, residency and dissertation classes; teach multiple concurrent classes in accordance with teaching practices identified in the Faculty Handbook and by CoDS and University administration; effectively use a mentor/coach approach to build productive educational relationships with students.
Assist in developing and maintaining the quality and integrity of the CoDS’ respective doctoral program, including the development and implementation of program goals and program integrity; Participate in and lead task forces and committees, which includes participating in the planning, implementation, and coordination of regional activities to maximize service quality effectiveness and efficiency, as required; represent and address academic concerns with campus leadership, Serve on dissertation committees in an assigned role as a chair, university research methodologist or panel validator; develop and maintain strong relationships by serving as a program resource for college and/or academic staff, faculty and students, and serve as a liaison for the College.
Apply flexibility and creativity in meeting student needs, ensuring availability to students, responding to student issues and concerns, as needed, inside and outside of the classroom, based on the learning environment and according to University policy and instructional standards.
Maintain a flexible work schedule, including nights and weekends, to support student development and progression; hold open office hours to accommodate student development and progression.
Maintain professional and technical knowledge of the curricula by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, participating in professional societies and developing an annual personal research agenda that includes publication or presentation to a larger academic community; maintain a general knowledge of emerging issues and trends related to respective academic program(s) and doctoral studies.
Maintain a home office environment, if working remotely, that is conducive to professionalism and student privacy, with capability of video conferencing for all CoDS meetings.
Perform other duties as assigned or apparent.

Supervisory Responsibilities None MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: Doctoral Instructor - University Research Methodologist (URM) Doctoral degree in a field related to the content of the academic program Doctorate in Business, Education, Healthcare or related degree requiring the successful completion of a dissertation Must have 6 doctoral level credits in research methodologies (excluding dissertation or thesis credits) Five (5) years of recent and proven experience in a field related to the content of the academic program Five (5) years of experience leading doctoral faculty in online and face-to-face to advance instructional excellence and promote student success Degrees must be from a regionally accredited institution.
Must be a current University of Phoenix Associate Faculty member ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS FOR SPECIFIC PROGRAMS/CONTENT AREAS: Have current graduate scholarship on file.
Complete the self-guided Dissertation Chair Training Refresher (DCTR) annually Must have 1 year of teaching experience in higher education Experience working in higher education with a diverse, multi-disciplinary group of doctoral students Proven ability to promote student learning success in doctoral studies in the areas of writing, critical thinking, and research Knowledge of adult education principles/practices, curriculum development and academic content area Experience working in higher education with a diverse, multi-disciplinary group of doctoral students Familiarity with adult educational experience and in the retention motivation of adult learners SCHOLARSHIP REQUIREMENT: All faculty members must have and maintain graduate scholarship (record of scholarship within the last five years that meets UOPX’s definition of scholarship engagement and enhanced graduate scholarship (record of scholarship in peer-reviewed scholarship every two years) as defined by the College of Doctoral Studies.
Faculty who do not have DCTR or graduate scholarship on file may still qualify; however, they have one year from the date the content area is approved to come into compliance with these requirements to maintain the content area approval.
