Certified Subject Area Teachers
The charter is seeking Certified Teachers to implement instruction with support from a Certified Special Education Teacher for students in grades 5-12.
Under the supervision and direction of the Campus Director, the Certified Teacher will effectively manage the learning environment by preparing lesson plans, instructing students, evaluating and monitoring students’ performance and advancing student achievement.
The Certified Teacher should have experience differentiating instruction for a variety of learners and will work collaboratively with a team to plan instruction in accordance with students’ IEP goals.
The Certified teacher will also ensure the classroom follows the AZACS structured teaching model.
Teachers in this role should demonstrate a commitment to professional development through didactic workshops and classroom coaching.
Candidates with teaching experience are preferred with a willingness to be trained and coached in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) strategies.
The Certified Teacher will work hand-in-hand with other campus team members to implement a best-practice educational model to achieve optimal results for students on the autism spectrum and students with other related disorders.
Duties:
Teach content area curriculum
Write effective lesson plans using the charter’s adopted scope and sequence documents and adopted curriculum.
Use and implement classroom management techniques to maintain organization, orderliness, student safety, and a productive learning environment.
Implement instructional techniques to encourage and motivate students.
Evaluate students’ performance regarding achievements in curriculum and activities and document progress towards IEP goals.
After analyzing student data, develop and implement student interventions to increase academic growth.
Ensure parents and students are informed of curriculum used in the classroom, activities throughout the school and data generated during lessons.
Collaborate with a classroom team.
Ensure classroom support staff are implementing instructional strategies and lessons they are provided
Provide daily feedback to support staff
Participate in regular observations and coaching from campus leadership and implement action steps following coaching sessions
Modification of materials to meet student needs and IEP requirements
Maintain substitute plans in case of Teacher absence
Participate in all duties and responsibilities as appropriate for an AZACS faculty member
Regular parent communication following AZACS guidelines
Other duties as assigned by the administration
Minimum Qualifications:
Secondary teacher certification
Track record of success in behavior management with students with autism or other special needs
Ability to approach situations with optimism and perseverance
Ability to communicate with parents, co-workers and professional contacts in a courteous and professional manner and following AZACS guidelines
Experience in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) and structured teaching preferred
Valid Arizona IVP fingerprint clearance card

Supervisory Responsibilities:
Set-up of lessons and instructional activities for classroom support staff.
Coaches, monitors, and mentors classroom support staff working with students with disabilities.
ADA AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Positions in this class require: stooping, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.
Light Work:
Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
Working Conditions:
Work is routinely performed in an indoor and outdoor classroom setting.
