MADISON ELEMENTARY SCHOOL DISTRICT #38 Position Title: Teacher On Assignment - Dean of Students Length of Work Yr: 225 contract days Salary Range: $56,536 + Placement based on degree and experience Department: Madison No.
1 Middle School Reports To: School Principal QUALIFICATIONS: Valid Arizona Teaching Certificate Arizona Principal Certification, preferred or in progress Bachelor’s Degree Master’s Degree (preferred) Minimum three (3) years teaching experience Spanish speaking, preferred JOB GOAL: The Dean of Students is responsible for managing the overall student experience and supporting the academic, social, and emotional development of elementary and middle school students.
This role involves a combination of administrative, supervisory, and leadership duties.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: Creating and implementing programs and policies that promote a safe and positive school environment.
Providing guidance and support to students who are struggling academically, socially, or emotionally.
Developing and maintaining positive relationships with students, parents, and staff members.
Managing student discipline and behavior, including enforcing school rules and consequences for rule violations.
Overseeing extracurricular activities and programs, such as sports teams, clubs, and after-school programs.
Collaborating with teachers and other school leaders to identify and address student needs and challenges.
Supervising and supporting teachers and staff members who work directly with students.
Managing student attendance and ensuring compliance with state and district attendance policies.
Developing and implementing emergency procedures and crisis management plans.
Maintaining accurate and up-to-date student records and communicating regularly with parents and guardians about student progress and issues.
Responsible for coordinating the school 504 program.
Perform other tasks and assumes additional responsibilities as assigned by the Principal KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Knowledge and skill in student guidance techniques based upon academic preparation or experience Knowledge of school-aged and family services within the community Demonstrates experience in working with multicultural student populations Demonstrates experience in working with Behavior Management System Knowledge and demonstrated skills related to effective teaching, learning and leadership skills Demonstrates knowledge of state and national standards, district curriculum and instructional materials and assessments Demonstrates knowledge of interpreting data and assessments to make instructional decisions Supports school and district mission and vision Utilizes effective verbal and written communication skills Demonstrates flexibility, dependability, organization, and collaboration Establishes rapport with peers and parents Is willing to participate in district training for coaching Demonstrates lifelong learning REPORTS TO: School Principal TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Maintains valid certifications and IVP fingerprint card.
Salary to be determined yearly according to Governing Board approved range.
