The School of Mathematical and Natural Sciences in the College of Interdisciplinary Arts and Sciences at Arizona State University invites applications for two full-time, benefit-eligible tenure-track/tenured faculty positions (one Assistant Professor and one Assistant/Associate Professor) in Computer Science with primary research areas in cybersecurity or database systems.
This position will begin in August 2024.
Successful candidates are expected to establish a vigorous, externally-funded program of research in Computer Science; to deliver quality undergraduate instruction in Computer Science; and to contribute service to the school, college, university and the profession.
Faculty can participate in university-wide graduate programs.
Successful candidates of this search will be joined by several additional faculty members who will be recruited through national searches to expand and deepen program offerings and research endeavors in support of advancing the rigor of the underlying science and expanding the boundaries of interdisciplinary education and research.
Faculty in the School of Mathematical and Natural Sciences have the opportunity to work in a unit that values innovative research and undergraduate education equally while being housed in an R1 university.
This has created the opportunity for our diverse student population to obtain individual faculty mentorship on the West Valley Campus of ASU, which provides a close-knit residential campus setting.

Essential Functions of the Position: The individuals filling this position are expected to: Establish a vigorous, externally-funded program of research in computer science with emphasis in cybersecurity or database systems; to deliver quality instruction in computer science; and to contribute service to the school, college, university and the profession; Advance impactful education through undergraduate research and innovative programmatic development, and cultural-responsive teaching and mentoring practices.

Qualifications Required Qualifications: Doctorate or terminal degree in Computer Science or a related field at time of hire.
Desired Qualifications: Demonstrated commitment to working successfully with a diverse student population, including first-generation college students, non-traditional, low-income college students, and those from under-represented minorities.
Evidence of an on-going (Associate rank) or emerging (Assistant rank) research program in cybersecurity or database systems and a record of publication and commitment to securing external grant funding consistent with the candidate's experience.
Evidence of successful college/university teaching and/or course development experience commensurate with the candidate's experience.
Demonstrated experience (Associate rank) or interest (Assistant rank) in mentoring students in research in relevant areas.
Interest in establishing interdisciplinary research programs through collaborative efforts.
Established collaborations with industry partners and/or previous industry experience.
Demonstrated contribution of service to profession and university, commensurate with the candidate’s current rank.
