Still University's School of Osteopathic Medicine in Arizona (ATSU-SOMA) is seeking a full-time non-exempt Graduate Medical Education (GME) Coordinator on the Mesa, Arizona campus.
This position provides administrative support for the SOMA-GME department.
The SOMA GME Coordinator is a key member of the ATSU-SOMA Graduate Medical Education (GME) team and is critical to the success of the National Family Medicine Residency (NFMR) program.
Working closely with the Residency Program Director and the Residency Education Manager, the SOMA GME Coordinator is responsible for collecting, tracking, reporting, and maintaining data needed for ATSU-SOMA and NFMR program accreditation.
They collaborate with the other NFMR coordinators on data management and reporting, with frequent communication with resident trainees and faculty.
The GME Coordinator must possess excellent communication and organizational skills and is expected to develop in-depth knowledge of Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) requirements, including policies and procedures needed to meet accreditation requirements, coordinate educational programming, and support the residents.
Duties & Responsibilities: Manages communication and serves as the direct point of contact between the NFMR training sites, residents, faculty, SOMA-GME department, and the Wright Center (WC) for Graduate Medical Education in Scranton, PA, on a range of academic and administrative matters.
Coordinates and tracks the residency educational components, including the didactic scheduling and calendar, confirmation of speakers/dates/topics, recording, and distribution of didactic sessions, tracking resident completion of curriculum requirements and participation in remediation plans Facilitates effective communication on a range of academic and administrative matters, ensuring an inclusive and collaborative environment.
Responsible for developing and monitoring a tracking/reporting system to ensure compliance with NFMR program requirements.
Extracts data and compiles reports as needed.
Assists with NFMR resident orientation and onboarding, including, generating user accounts for the learning management platforms, editing, distributing resident policy manuals, and orienting new residents to usage of tracking/reporting systems.
Manages the Google calendar for the SOMA-GME department to schedule meetings.
Coordinates and prepares meeting agendas and minutes, distributing them to committee members within the WC and ATSU-SOMA.
Uploads, monitors, and edits documents on the WC resident portal and learning management systems Assists the NFMR coordinator with providing indirect supervision of the local site coordinators at each residency site, including overseeing and monitoring completion of assigned tracking/reporting tasks and co-chairing weekly site coordinator meetings.
Assists the SOMA Director of Assessment and Accreditation in tracking and reporting SOMA graduate outcomes in terms of residency specialty and employment.
Actively participates in SOMA staff meetings and assists with SOMA activities and events.
Maintains accurate and organized records in a confidential manner, ensuring ethical and legal guidelines are maintained.
Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Education & Experience: Two-year college degree with courses in writing or grammar.
Three years experience in a health care or academic setting.
Knowledge of basic medical terminology.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Experience with computer applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Adobe Pro, and Google.
This is an HRSA grant-funded position that is set to expire on 6/30/2025.
Continued employment is not guaranteed after this date.
