Implements, manages and instructs a diverse student population in the High-Tech Automation program using innovative teaching and learning techniques.
Advises students, maintains office hours, and assists with registration.
Develops High Tech Automation courses using traditional and non-traditional methods of instruction.
Maintains professional competence, maintains laboratory equipment and participates in professional activities.
Assists in the development of budgets, orders equipment and supplies.
Develops and maintains strong relationships with local industries, high schools and other colleges to secure quality internship sites, recruit students, assist in the placement of graduates and select advisory committee members.
Essential Functions 50% - Facilitates and instructs a diverse population of students in a classroom and/or lab setting; develops written syllabi/course outlines and course materials; evaluates knowledge of subject matter taught and monitors students' scholastic records; prepares and grades exams; maintains laboratories and laboratory equipment and facilities to OSHA standards and guidelines; makes simple repairs as needed or schedules repairs for program equipment; 15% - Promotes automation program and recruits’ students; mentors and educates faculty regarding changes in the curriculum and the program; 15% - Develops and enhances knowledge of subject matter taught and individual training skills required to remain current with new trends and developments in the field and to promote the scholarship of teaching and learning through attendance at conferences, courses, seminars, and/or workshops; 10% - Maintains academic support hours to assist and advise new, prospective and continuing students; 10% - Engages in the academic life of the college by participating in District wide and campus committees.
Minimum Qualifications The Occupational Teaching Fields require the following from an accredited college or university: • A Master’s degree in the teaching field OR • A Master’s degree in any field with 18 graduate credits in the teaching field OR • A Master’s degree in any field with a combination of 24 upper division and/or graduate credits in the teaching field (Upper-division courses are Junior and Senior level courses in obtaining a Bachelor’s degree) OR • A Bachelor’s degree and three years of occupational experience in the field to be taught OR • Five years of occupational experience in the field to be taught OR • A Journeyman certification in the field to be taught Desired Qualifications A.
Previous teaching experience on electronics, electrical, process control (PID Controllers) or PLC controllers in the Industrial Automation field.
B.
Five (5) years or more of hands-on experience working on, maintaining, or repairing electronics, electrical, process control (PID Controllers) or PLC controllers in the Industrial Automation field.
C.
Three (3) years or more of design experience in any of the following disciplines: electronics, electrical, process control (PID Controllers) or PLC controllers.
Special Working Conditions Work Schedule Varies, may be required to work mornings, afternoons, evenings and weekends.
Climbing stairs and/or ladders to reach assigned areas along with working at heights.
May be required to lift or carry up to 50lbs.
May be exposed to hazardous chemicals.
TRAVEL: Local travel to multiple colleges and area high schools is required.
Local travel to various MCCCD campuses is required.
Remote travel may be required for training or seminars.
DRIVER’S LICENSE: Possession of a valid State of Arizona Class D Driver’s License is required; employee must meet district minimum standards regarding driving: https://www.
