Within the Learning Services Division, the Public Services Coordinator supports student success, instructional activities, and contributes to a library environment that encourages research, collaboration, inquiry, and study.
Supports students, faculty, staff, and community patrons by providing services in the areas of circulation/fulfillment, information/reference, technical/mechanical, and directional assistance, utilizing resources in all formats provided by ASU Library.
Assist library users in the use of library resources and services; provide research support and advice to library users, referring as needed.
Advise library users on ASU Library policies; interpret and enforce library and university policies and procedures.
Responsible for independent oversight of Noble Library during the Friday and Saturday closing shift.
Participate in building management; including open/close, safety/security, maintenance, monitoring student code of conduct compliance.

Salary Range $44,100 - $46,900 per year; DOE Close Date 04-April-2024 Category 02 Essential Duties Customer service Provide circulation / fulfillment services, including check-out / check-in, loan policy, holds, Course Resource Services, billing policies / procedures Provide intermediate subject-based reference, information and referral services to users, combining a wide range of library and information sources in a variety of formats.
Maintain all ASU Library services, including current initiatives such as map and geospatial services, data science and analytics, maker services and data visualization May provide virtual informational services via “Ask a Librarian” chat / triage email Resolve and answer complex requests, and interpret ASU Library / University policy for library users Provide basic troubleshooting of computer and printing needs.
Provide directional assistance for the Library and campus.
Manage Noble Library Friday and Saturday evenings until closing, ensuring adherence to proper procedures and protocols Oversee security and management of the building; intervening when necessary to maintain a supportive approach when resolving user disputes and interpreting policies Use independent judgment to analyze, interpret and respond to matters requiring comprehensive knowledge of library policies and procedures Set workflow priorities, delegate work, assign special projects, insuring the appropriate procedures and policies are followed d)Resolve conflicts and address emergencies, refer to supervisor or ASU third parties as appropriate (ASU Police and Facilities Maintenance) Serve as the back-up for opening/closing of Noble Library as necessary Supervise service points and building activities, including security and maintenance issues Coach student staff to provide technical advice, problem-solving assistance, answers to questions and policy interpretation; and how and when to refer questions when unable to respond Assist with the timely processing of in-transits, pulls, holds, book-drop, and other Fulfillment duties Perform other duties as assigned Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree AND two (2) years prior customer service experience; OR, any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.
Desired Qualifications Demonstrated knowledge with library practices, policies, and procedures.
Experience in using Microsoft Office Suite, Google Drive applications, Adobe Acrobat, employee communication software (e.
g.
Slack, Zoom).
Experience in supervise and coach student staff and other employees.
Evidence of effective communicate.
Experience in customer service principles, methods and practices.
Demonstrated knowledge of the concepts of equity, diversity, and inclusion.
Demonstrated knowledge of the concepts of sustainable practices.
Working Environment Activities are performed in an environmentally controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting and/or standing.
Exposure to dust and other airborne materials.
Utilize computer, phone, and various technologies (Zoom, Google, Dropbox, etc.
), office equipment (fax, copier, etc.
).
May oversee various projects within the library involving handling, sorting, shelving or relocation of physical materials.
Responsible for oversight of building security, maintenance issues, and compliance with university policy in absence of direct supervisor.
May work alternate hours, including nights and/or weekends, as needed.
Ability to work remotely when needed.
Work Schedule Spring/Fall – Friday to Saturday 12:15pm to 9:15pm; remaining dates and times open to discussion Summer – Friday 8:15am to 5:15pm, Saturday 8:45am to 5:15pm; remaining dates and times open to discussion Alternate weekend, evening, or holiday work, as required.
